SION (Stop Islamization of Nation): Member of the Board of Directors according to islamophobia.org
Dr. Mordechai Kedar is an Israeli commentator and pundit, specializing in Israeli-Arab relations. He received his BA in Arabic and Political Policy in 1982 and his PhD in Arabic in 1998, both from Bar-Ilan University in Israel. He is fluent in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. He spent 25 years as a member of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). A senior lecturer at Bar-Ilan University in the Arabic department, Dr. Kedar is a frequent contributor to various Israeli news publications and has appeared on Al-Jazeera Arabic. Dr. Kedar is a supporter of the “eight-state,” or “emirate,” solution in solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In his writings and talks, Dr. Kedar often displays intense nationalist Israeli views, belittling and vilifying Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim perspectives. His polemic often focuses on attacking the religious significance of Jerusalem for Muslims, in addition to portraying Islam as a threat to Judaism and Christianity. He drew criticism in 2014 when he stated that suicide bombers would, “only be deterred by threat of rape of sisters and wives.”
Kedar continues to teach at Bar-Ilan University in Israel as a senior lecturer in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, in addition to writing op-ed articles for the aforementioned publications. In a recent op-ed article from December 21st, 2018 published both on “Breaking News Israel” and “Arutz Sheva,” Kedar continues to espouse his belief that Muslim immigrants to Europe are seeking to usurp systems of governance and replace it with an “Islamic” one.
“To anyone whose keeps his eyes open, it is abundantly clear that those Muslim migrants who do not integrate into the European host country’s society intend to turn that state into an Islamic entity. They do not have to fire a single bullet to accomplish this – and it is perfectly fine with them if the process takes decades, because the Koran states that ‘Allah is with those who are patient,’ so the Islamic world is quite capable of waiting patiently until its goals are achieved.”
Dr. Kedar repeatedly vilifies Islam, claiming that it cannot coexist peacefully with other religions under any circumstances and pushing discredited tropes such as “dhimmitude.” He falsely suggests that Islam is determined to extinguish Judaism, Christianity, and other religions.
“Islamic opposition to recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital emanates from Islam’s belief that Judaism and all other religions are obsolete, leaving only Islam as the true faith. Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital grants Judaism the status of a living religion, one that threatens Islam, which arrived in the world to ‘supersede’ all existing religions’ (Koran, chap. 9, verse 33). The international community must make clear to the Muslims that they should take care of their own affairs and leave other religions alone...If Islam is incapable of dwelling in peace with other religions, it will have to be revised to allow for accepting ‘others,’ including Jews, as people with living religions and holy sites--Jerusalem, for example--and the right to behave in them as they choose.”
“According to Islam, Jews (and Christians) should live under Islamic rule as dhimmis (‘protected as long as they behave according to the rules of Islam’) and ‘pay the Jizya out of hand while they are utterly subdued’ (Koran 9:29). Thus, Jews have no right to a state, army, or police, and should live in a state of perpetual humiliation at the mercy of Muslims.”
“Jews now attempt to pray on the Temple Mount, suggesting that Judaism has returned to being an active, living, and even dynamic religion. This brings the very raison d’être of Islam into question. After all, Islam came into the world in order to make Judaism obsolete.”
Dr. Kedar argues that Muslims have no religious claim to the territory of Palestine.
“Most important of all: Jerusalem appears in the Bible hundreds of times under various names. It does not appear in the Koran at all--not under any of the four Arabic names for it. Those names are Bait al-Maqdis (the house of the Temple), a name that appears in a Hadith (Islamic oral law); Ilya, a shortened version of Ilya Capitolina, the name given to the city by the Romans; Urshalim, used by the Christians; and al-Quds, a more recent name. The city is never mentioned.”
Dr. Kedar continues to espouse the view that Arab nations are devoid of anything “to offer.”
“Israel should ask the Arabs a single question: What are you giving us in exchange for our agreeing to make peace with you? The answer is clear. Apart from poverty, hatred, treachery, neglect, cynicism, and hypocrisy, the Arab world has nothing to offer Israel, because these are its only commodities.”
Dr. Kedar claimed that suicide bombers could only be deterred if threats of rape of their sisters and wives were made.
“We can’t take such steps, of course,” Kedar told the programme. “I’m not talking about what we should or shouldn’t do. I’m talking about the facts. The only things that deters a suicide bomber is the knowledge that if he pulls the trigger or blows himself up, his sister will be raped. That’s all. That’s the only thing that will bring back home, in order to preserve his sister’s honour.”
