Megyn Kelly is an accomplished newscaster and personality, having worked with both Fox News and NBC News. Kelly became a popular figure while working for Fox News when hosting The Kelly File. She gained considerable attention in the media when Donald Trump criticized her after a 2016 presidential debate that she moderated. In light of these comments, Kelly became an advocate for women’s rights, sparking a debate about sexual harassment and double standards within the workplace and media. In 2017, Kelly left Fox News for NBC. Kelly’s morning show on NBC was cancelled in 2017 after a racist comment about blackface
After her racist remark defending the use of blackface in Halloween costumes, Kelly’s morning show was cancelled on NBC, it seems unlikely however, that Fox News will take her back. It is uncertain what her next career move will be. In 2016, she published an autobiography entitled Settle For More, which discusses her career as a news personality. Furthermore, she maintains an active twitter account.
In her role as a news host, Kelly has pushed narratives concerning the threat that Islam and Muslims pose to the United States and Europe.
“Joining me now, Soeren Kern, a distinguished senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, which is an international policy group and think tank. Soeren is a dual German and U.S. Citizen who lives in Europe. Soeren thank you so much for being here. So I am hearing people today say things as dramatic as Europe is lost. Suggesting the culture there is being forced to conform to the refugees and large groups of Muslims who have no desire to assimilate. Your thoughts?”
“What do you make of the Attorney General Loretta Lynch who comes out today, doesn't even call it a terrorism investigation. It took the FBI director sitting next to her to say that. At the same time, she's sending a message to Muslim groups last night, saying she will make sure that any hateful rhetoric against Muslims is looked into. I was like -- Oh, by the way, we do have the First Amendment, but I'm going to look into that.”
Kelly has claimed that CAIR is affiliated with a terrorist organization.
“Was it a mistake to allow, to have a couple of Democrats show up with representatives of CAIR at the State of the Union tonight? CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorist trial. President Obama’s DOJ says they’re directly linked to Hamas, which we recognize is a terrorist group...There’s a lot of great Muslim-Americans that could go that are not affiliated with a group that’s been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terror trial.”
After information surfaced about the alleged beheading suspect Alton Nolen in Oklahoma, The Kelly File held a guest under the pseudonym “Noor,” who spread false information about Islam and the suspect’s mosque.
