Ben Shapiro is a high-profile Conservative columnist, podcast-host, and author. At age 17, Shapiro became the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the United States with Creators Syndicate. Shapiro has worked for leading Conservative news outlets, such as Breitbart, however after his resignation he faced harsh criticism from the alt-right movement, including anti-Semitic comments. Shapiro is the host of his own podcast, The Ben Shapiro Show, and has appeared on many American television shows. He has also written various books, including Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth and Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism is Corrupting Our Future. Shapiro has been critical of President Donald Trump since the onset of his campaign. Notably, Shapiro is a strong supporter of the anti-abortion movement and appeared at the 2019 March for Life in Washington, DC. He has also espoused various Islamophobic and racist sentiments, especially with regards to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Ben Shapiro continues to host The Ben Shapiro Show and has a forthcoming book entitled The Right Side of History. In September, he hosted a special covering the 2018 Midterm Elections on Fox News called “The Ben Shapiro Election Special.” He also maintains an active Twitter account. In the recent news, Shapiro was banned from speaking at Grand Canyon University over concerns that his divisive rhetoric might cause issues. A similar problem occurred with Gonzaga University, but Shapiro will be allowed to speak there. He also drew widespread criticism after speaking at the March for Life rally in Washington DC earlier this year, after he stated, “I Wouldn’t Kill Baby Hitler.”

Ben Shapiro has voiced racist comments towards Palestinian Arabs, including advocating for the mass expulsion of Palestinians from the Occupied Territories. In a separate article written in 2013, Shapiro walked back on this position, however, more recent articles and actions continue to display blatant bigotry.

“Here is the bottom line: If you believe that the Jewish state has a right to exist, then you must allow Israel to transfer the Palestinians and the Israeli-Arabs from Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Israel proper. It's an ugly solution, but it is the only solution. And it is far less ugly than the prospect of bloody conflict ad infinitum. When two populations are constantly enmeshed in conflict, it is insane to suggest that somehow deep-seated ideological change will miraculously occur, allowing the two sides to live together.”

“The Palestinian people, who support, fund and execute suicide bombings. The Palestinian people, who dress their toddlers in bomb belts and then take family snapshots. The Palestinian people, who cheered on September 11 as the World Trade Center towers fell. The Palestinian people, who followed terrorist extraordinaire Yasser Arafat, supported Saddam Hussein, shredded the blooming rose that was once Christian Lebanon, and almost toppled the Western-friendly Jordanian monarchy. The Palestinian people, who destroy relics on the Temple Mount, openly call for the destruction of the state of Israel, ally with Syria and Iran, and elect Hamas. The Palestinian people, who teach their children that the Holocaust is a fairy tale, and that Jews routinely poison Palestinian candy. The Palestinian people, who stage injuries in order to solicit Western media sympathy, and then roar madly as they hold up their hands, red with the blood of murdered Israeli soldiers.”

“The Palestinian Arab population is rotten to the core.”

“Israelis like to build. Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage. This is not a difficult issue. #settlementsrock”

Shapiro has argued that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is, at its core, religious.

“Palestinian Hatred of Jews Is Religious, and Cannot Be Satiated Except Via Jewish Suicide [emphasis added by author]. Even as Secretary of State John Kerry urges Israel to make more concessions to a terrorist entity to which the United States taxpayers sign a $400 million check each year, Palestinians now demand that Israel be stopped from any archaeological excavations near the Temple Mount that would demonstrate Jewish presence before Mohammed. They also demand that the Western Wall be labeled an Islamic holy site, despite the Wall having no relevance to Islam. There is a reason for Mahmoud Abbas’ religious rhetoric: this is a religious war waged by Muslims against Jews.”

Shapiro called CAIR a terrorist organization.

“CAIR, by the way, is an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of a charity linked to 9/11 terrorists.”

Shapiro denies Islamophobia is a widespread issue, but instead an illegitimate “concern” of the Left. In an article entitled, “The Left’s Screeching About ‘Islamophobia’ Puts Your Life and Your Gun Rights In Danger” he repeatedly renders the word Islamophobia in quotes.

“Today, even after the Orlando terrorist attack, the left continues to maintain its focus on fighting ‘Islamophobia’: in Boston, someone called the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority after spotting two Muslims praying on a platform. They turned out not to be terrorists.”

Shapiro believes that most Muslims are radical.

“Wow it’s just like John Lennon’s Imagine now, the question isn’t whether Islam itself is violent its what its adherents believe because that’s what they act upon. There’s plenty of violent material in the Old and New Testaments, hey I’m an Orthodox Jew, I read the Old Testament a lot but believers in those particular texts are not currently ramming airliners into towers or beheading journalists or mutilating female genitalia so let’s examine the question: Is radicalism in the Muslim world a tiny minority phenomenon? ...More than half the Muslims on earth, that not a minority, that’s now a majority, and that’s still not even surveying hundreds of millions of Muslims in other countries. In other words, the myth of the tiny radical minority, it’s just that, it’s a myth.”

Shapiro sees promoting values of multiculturalism, and extending legal and social rights to Muslims citizens, as bringing the downfall of the West and Europe. In an article entitled “The Suicide of Europe” Shapiro defends a reporter from a known anti-Islam group who was using provocative and biased language outside the courtroom.

“This is how the West dies: with a tut-tut, not with a bang. The same civilization that sees it as a fundamental right to kill a child in the womb thinks it is utterly out of bounds to film outside a trial involving the abuse of children, so long as the defendants are radical Muslims. The Europeans have elevated the right to not be offended above the right to life; they've elevated the right to not be offended above the right to free speech, all in the name of some utopian vision of a society without standards.”
